What a great show. Just what Asbury Park needed. Given it was a Wednesday night and an early start time(6:30 pm), people still came through and supported.  I arrived around 5:30 for sound check, figuring most rappers are late anyways. To my surprise, Jedi Mind Tricks and company had arrived by 4:30 and had already begun there soundtrack. After I finished setting up, I got to dip back stage and meet everyone. My bad for assuming that there was going to be some wild shit going. These guys were just laid back and chill, cool as a cucumber. Everyone was friendly, and showed mad love to me. Its weird for me. You follow these guys on twitter and facebook and when you finally meet them they’re just regular dudes. No gaudy chains, champagne, fights, and nasty groupies. Its real refreshing to see artists not be stereo types. There was some drinking going on, but for the most part they were about business. Anyways, great performance by Jedi Mind Tricks, Reef The Lost Cauze, and Solo For Dolo. I also wanted to note, a great stage performance by Greg C., Solo For Dolo’s new hype man. They had some real good chemistry going on. Here’s a few photos I took at the show. I have my fingers crossed and hope this paves the way for future indie hip hop acts to come through to Asbury.

Though this would be the best episode of the MTV show, this is for a landmark moment for Hip Hop Heads in the Jersey Shore area. Oct.27th at The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park New Jersey, Jedi Mind Tricks and Reef The Lost Cauze make their debut appearances. Though The Stony Pony brings more mainstream hip hop acts, like Snoop Dog, Cypress Hill, and Redman and Method Man, it’s never brought an indie group has big as J.M.T. to the Jersey shore.  Why is this a big deal?  Asbury Park as little to no indie hip hop scene/following. This could mean more future shows like this and more support. Also, it could just open a few eyes and ears of people who only know hip hop that is played on the radio. Yes, I do have personal invested interest in this show. I will be djing throughout the night and rocking a set with Solo For Dolo. When the show was initially booked, I noticed there wasn’t a local act opening for Jedi Mind. So I poked my nose around, found the right contact, and boom! Myself and Solo got booked. I’ve seen these guys play and handful of times and now to have the honor to share the same stage is pretty exciting. Anyways,  I just wanted to throw something up real quick. I will be posting photos and hopefully video of the show. Maybe even an interview with J.M.T. if they are up to it. SO STAY TUNED!

I also wanted to give a quick shout out to my home girl Angie who hooked the show up for myself and Solo For Dolo.

Thank you and much love!

pre-sale tickets are available HERE

Doors open at 6pm and myself and Solo For Dolo will be rocking at 6:30. Space is limited so get there early.

Rockin it in Philly @ The Kyber

I had a great weekend. A lot of positive things went down. Friday night May 14th, I dj’d for Jersey’s up and coming M.C., Solo for Dolo in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The venue, The Kyber,  seemed more geared for the punk and rock and roll crowed. Regardless, Dolo rocked it the same. Whats best about Solo 4 Dolo is not just his obvious ability to rhyme, but his ability to bring energy to the stage and actually perform. Which in return, myself and the crowd feed of that energy.  On May 26th, will be rocking a show on our stomping ground, Asbury Park, New Jersey. Again, like The Kyber, this venue is more geared towards the rock and roll fan, but if  Chris brings the same energy as he did in Philly, he’ll definitely open people’s eyes and maybe have a few new fans. Some come and support NJ’s finest. Check the links for directions and more details for the show.
